Why Join Us?
What You'll Do
- Hands-on training with an experienced colleague to learn MG1/MG3/MG5/MGX gauges
- Learn our existing designs, general assembly and parts drawings, and completed projects as well as our design guidelines and ERP and ECO system.
- Shadow a team member on a smaller project.
- Machine design. Design robust C-frames, O-frames, and bespoke mounting structures in Solidworks, ensuring structural integrity, vibration mitigation, and precise sensor alignment for harsh continuous-manufacturing environments.
- Parts design: Design parts for machining, sheet metal forming, and welding processes, including modifying and adapting existing designs to suit customer and internal requirements.
- Requirements & demos: Contribute to requirements definition using information gathered from customers, the field, and in house platform design
- Product documentation: manufacturing, installation and service procedures.
- Engage with colleagues: Communicate with other designers for feedback and to share your ideas as well as submit renders and CAD screenshots as you develop them for ongoing feedback.
- Production: Contribute to the ECO process within our MRP to generate and maintain production documentation.
- Test your work: Electromechanical assembly and test as needed to test your designs, confirm fit and function.
- Installation & Commissioning: Complete pre-install fit-up visits and commission systems at customer sites - up to 15% travel.
Education & Expertise
- Experience: Previous experience in mechanical engineering is required. We welcome recent graduates with significant FSAE or academic project experience, as well as senior engineers with 7+ years of dedicated industrial machine design or custom automation experience.
- Solidworks: Proven experience using Solidworks to design physical products for development and manufacturing. Experienced candidates should demonstrate mastery of complex assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, and rigorous manufacturing drawings.
- Manufacturing Acumen: Practical understanding of custom manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal forming, welding). You know how things are actually built on a shop floor and design accordingly.
- End-to-End Ownership: For experienced hires, a track record of taking complex mechanical systems from a blank CAD screen through prototyping, testing, and successful onsite commissioning.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal communication skills – listening, written and oral
- Curiosity: A sincere love and aptitude for tinkering with technology
- Problem solving: Ability to debug and solve complex technical problems
- Work environment: Comfortable working in an industrial environment. Able to lift heavy objects up to approximately 60 pounds/27 kilograms
- QA: Familiarity with Quality Engineering principles
- Business travel: About 15% of the time working at customer facilities and attending trade-shows. Some travel may be outside of North America. Must have a valid Canadian passport & be eligible to travel without restriction.
- Work on site: Willing and able to work on site full time.
- PEng: This is a potential opportunity for an engineer to earn their P.Eng. designation.
